Bayclay 2014

We had our display of work at the yearly exhibition, Bayclay 2014 at Baycourt! So proud that my plate was on show for all to see along with all the other lovely pots ! 

coastguard headquarters

Really fun day out with all the guys from Greerton.  We got to have a look around the coastguard boat, have lunch at sulphur point, and do some fishing.

Busy in pottery

I have been very busy getting ready for Christmas and have been making lots of lovely things in pottery. I really like the gold paint. 

Fishing with the Contiki

Hi everyone, I had an exciting adventure this week and went to PAPAMOA beach to let out a Contiki! Lucky aye, we didn't catch a fish this time but we did catch a Stingray, I had so much fun. 

Making hand-puppets

I had an exciting Sewing, I was making hand puppets out of funky socks  and other materials. We made a pretty girl with Pigtails for my friend Sherie. I really loved sewing on the eyelashes and was fluttering my own and laughing. We showed her the puppet and she really liked it. success!! 

Painting my plate

I have been working very hard on my latest plate in pottery, I added some terrific Art Deco style texture to it and now that it has been baked in the Kiln I am adding a splash of my favourite colour. How cool does it look!

I went out with all the guys for fish n chips at the strand. Was a good morning out.

At the beach in sensory

Yesterday in sensory I decided I would like to be at the beach. I built some sand castles then tipped them all over it was haillarious!

Sewing sessions

Hi all! 

I have been really helpful in my sewing sessions, I am the go-to guy when it comes to connecting all of the plugs and extension chords needed to hook up the sewing machine. I also love threading the bobbin, I laugh when I see how fast the bobbin spins as we push the pedal and make it go fast. It reminds me of a plane!

Vases

Today was an exciting day,or first vases with 'real' glazes on came back from the kiln at Bethlehem.

Pottery

Today I made a large fruit bowl.It has a textured pattern on it.I really enjoyed this project and using the rolling pin !!

Sponge painting

In art the other day I made my nephew a price of art work using recycled wood and sponge painting.

In The Nextdoor Gallery

I had fun with my friends in the gallery,we did some "role play ". We learnt how to meet and greet visitors and new customers and how to make a sale !! Wrapping up a gift was serious business !! It's great to make a sale .

Blogging

Hey everybody, today In computers I helped to make a blog about the cool butterfly I brought into the centre to show everyone. I chose the background image and color scheme myself. 

Street Art

This week in photography we went to town and looked for some cool street art on the walls. We found some really cool art and took photos of ourselves to edit back at the centre. I took some wicked pictures and can't wait to see how they turn out.. 

I finished my Plane!

I have been working so hard on my plane in woodwork, learning new skills, using exciting new machines, chopping and sanding different types of wood. I have. Followed my plans closely and I am so proud of how wicked my plane has turned out! Everyone was really impressed. 

Editing photos.

This week in photography I brought in some of my own photos to share with the group and was watching as we edited uncool photos that we took of the memorial carvings in Gate Pa that were erected as part of the annual Gate Pa battle of Gate Pa celebrations and would clap in approval when I thought a photo was perfect!

Sweet music

I was having a great mine in my sensory session, we were watching musical videos and listening to sings while the fibre optic lights set the mood. I was enjoying the music so much I decided to play the guitar along to the music. 

Sulphur point

I went on a great outing to sulphur points with my friends, it was a lovely day and I really enjoyed myself. 

Next Door Gallery

There has been an exciting new addition to our Greerton centre, a Gallery and shop for all of the lovely works of art we re creating. I have been so excited about the Gallery and have been manning the shop, watching over the pieces and waiting to greet the customers. 

Gold Panning!

I went down to Sulphur Point this week to practice Gold Panning in preparation for our exciting Guy's group trip to the Waihi Gold Mine soon! We panned for gold and who would have guessed, we struck it lucky!? I found some gold!

Happy birthday to me!

Last week we celebrated my 30th birthday! We celebrated in style, my mum brought a really cool chocolate birthday cake which looked like a monarch caterpillar, my friends all sang me happy birthday  and I blew out the candles. I went for an aeroplane ride in a cool yellow plane and my aunty Denise came to visit!

Busy busy busy!

I have been so busy in the last couple of weeks. I have been enjoying my photography sessions and have been taking photos myself if things I like around me, I also have been busy in renovation and pottery. I was really excited to go to Wilrose centre last week for a "Meat and Greet" barbecue with all the guys in guys group, as well as the lads from Wilrose and m friend Jarod even popped in. We had music, met, arm wrestle completions and games of pool all while listening to some cool music. It was a fun afternoon.

Today I made a cloud for my aeroplanes to hang from.I had fun in the pottery with my friends from Wilrose.

Rose Gardens

I had a lovely visit to the rose gardens here in Tauranga. there were lots of beautiful plants and flowers to look at, as well as butterflies and insects to see. What a lovely day for walking and exploring!

A man of many talents!

I have been having an excellent time at the centre this week. We had a fun outing in photography, I really enjoyed taking photos of the plants and flowers that were interesting me in the cool gardens that we saw at The Elms. There was a butterfly that hatched in the centre and was hiding high up on the roof in the pottery room but I managed to talk him down and release him outside in my favourite tree. I have been helping a lot around the centre and was snapped vacuuming the sensory room!

seriously cool sculptures!

We had a visit to a very cool art gallery at the Historic Village here in Tauranga. It not only had sculptures that where done by the artists there, but there were also mosaics and other interesting works of art. I enjoyed studying them all closely and would live to go back soon with my friends. 

Plane building!

There has been lots of exciting things happening at the centre for me in the last few weeks. A new swan plant was brought into the centre that had a huge caterpillar, so I have enjoyed studying it closely. I has turned into a Chrysalis in front of our eyes! 

I have also been making a plane in woodwork. I have been following a blueprint, sawing, sanding and chiseling.

Back at Arohanui

I'm enjoying being back at Arohanui doing lots of things I've been swimming with my friends out to the shops for my personal book supplies I even helped wash the vans but I thort I would give the deck a scrub as well :)
