Merry christmas

Last blog of the year........best christmas party at the Trinity Wharf it was dress up, I was Santa, and we even had our own fireworks show!  Been an awesome year, looking forward to seeing you all next year, merry christmas and a happy new year!

Exciting trip to butterfly creek

Well what an exciting day we had yesterday we set of for Auckland early In the morning and what do you think happens next? We break down half way oh no!! But thanks to Toyota paeroa for the lend of there rescue one van we where still able to make it to butter fly creek my favourite part was the butterflies that landed on my shoulder and the giant white bird.What an adventures day it was:)

RPL Transport Visit

We went to RPL Transport for Guys Group this week.  Was pretty awesome, we got to see lots of diggers and trucks in action

Historical Village Visit

In guys group we went down to the Historical Village to check out the Men's Shed. The guys in there have been building amazing models for children to use and ride on.  I was very happy to see the aeroplanes!

Firestation

We visited Tauranga Firestation to deliver a gift of a clay Bedford fire truck that had been made at Arohanui.The crew were so pleased with the gift,it was a "thank you " for their visit to us with their engine.

Hobby shop

Greerton Hobby Shop has one of the best displays of planes! We walked into town and of course I found everything that has a propeller!

Exciting new toys

What an exciting sensory session last week with awesome new toys that look like bubbles and fireworks!

Community garden

We had a cool outing out to the merivale community garden, it was a beautiful sunny day, and I was searching for monarch butterflies.

A visit from tye

We were lucky enough in guys group to have a visit from tye and his handler, we learnt a lot about what his job was all about when he was out and about with his handler.

Cricket

What an awesome cricket practice we had for sports outing last week. we are hoping to challenge Te puke Centre to a cricket match in a couple of weeks.

The fire station

We were lucky enough in guys group to visit the fire station as part of our vehicle module. I had a great time with the hose, as you can see!!!!!

Looking after the chrysalis

I noticed a chrysalis on our swan plant outside, I had a great time watching it transform, unfortunately the chrysalis didn't turn into a butterfly this time, but I had a lot of fun watching it.

A visit from the fire truck

We've been looking at all different forms of transport in guys group at the moment. We were lucky enough to have a visit from the Greerton fire station!!! The lights on the truck were my favourite!!!!!!

Cultural Butterflies

We are making tiki butterflies in Cultural Arts, to make a big butterfly wall hanging. I enjoyed choosing colours for mine.

Sensory Lights

I had a great sensory session. I put coloured play dough over the tube lights and we could still see the light shining through. It was pretty cool!

Woodwork

Every Friday afternoon I go to woodwork. I enjoy using all of the tools and have learnt to use the saws, drills and other equipment. I have started my new project which is looking cool!

Computers

I had an enjoyable computer session today, had a good play at my flight game, it was a lot of fun, especially the hot air balloon game.

Thai Chi

I have been joining in and enjoying Thai Chi. A lady called Annie comes in every fortnight during our sports outing time and teaches us the moves. 

sensory fun

 Have been enjoying my time in the sensory room. The coloured and u v lights are always my favourite. I thought I would have a lie down and look above me at all the colours moving on the walls and ceiling.

Friday the 19th July was Greerton's Illuminart Festival.  We went down to Greerton Hall and learnt how to make Lanterns

Painting Planes!

I am painting the pottery planes that I made in pottery in camouflage colours, when they are finished I will make then into a mobile to hang in my room.

Planter boxes

In Gardening this week we finished off our planter box that I helped paint and I found some more gardening projects in our magazines which We are going to make.

Pottery

I've been busy lately carrying on with my pottery with Nicky!!! I'm up to colouring in my plane and few other things I have made. I'm very happy with my work.

Electronic Brainbox

I have been using our electronic Brainbox to make things that fly and spin! I had a great time with it and we built some cool stuff with propellers.

Silverbeet and Cauliflower

Our veges are growing great down at the community garden. I picked lots of veges this week.

Knitted Trees!!

For photography we went into Greerton to photograph all the trees in the village. The knitters Society have decorated the trees in bright coloured knitted pieces and it looked awesome! 

Earthmoving Machinery

In Guys Group we are learning about Roading Machinery, and what different things are used for. I done a awesome job of finding lots of pictures in the magazines of diggers and bulldozers so we can make a visual oard for everyone to see.

My fav things

During one of my sessions a staff member sat with me and we drew all the things that I love, like butterflies and balloons. I thought it was really funny and took my picture home to show Mum.

Lunch at the Citz Club

All of us 'Guys' went out for lunch at the Tauranga Citizens Club. I had a roast chicken meal and cheesecake, pavlova and fruit salad for pudding! I really enjoyed this outing and the food was so good I had to make sure my plate was empty!

Photography

I have photography in my new programme and am loving holding the camera and taking photo's. We are learning some tips from this book.

Garden Art

We walked to the Rock Shop today and picked out some flat pebbles for our next garden project.

Pottery

This afternoon I went to pottery.I rolled the clay and cut out the letter S for my name.I decorated it with stars and couldn't resist using the Christmas tree stamp too! I am very pleased with my work!!

Yesterday we had a photoshoot of all of us together. Got some cool effects from the sun on some of the photos

Tai Chi at Arohanui

We have started doing Tai Chi as part of our Sports Outing Programme. Annie who is A Tai Chi instructor will be at our centre every two weeks to show us how to do Tai Chi. I got in there and gave it a go and had fun!

A other fun week

I've had another fun week this week at Arohanui, I enjoyed my outing to hunting and fishing in guys group, the duck decoy was very interesting!!!!! I also had a great session in the sensory room with our new light balls.

A visit from Tommy Wilson

Yesterday Tommy Wilson, who is a New Zealand Children's author based in Tauranga came to our centre to visit us. He read us two of his books and talked to us about how he became a Choldren's author. He gave us all one of his books autographed to us! 

Pottery

I had fun when I joined the pottery,I rolled the clay and used the new aeroplane cutter.....then I found the Christmas tree shape and couldn't resist making some too !!

My Amazing Trip To The Gondolas!

Yesterday I went on the most exciting trip to Rotorua to go on the gondolas there.  I loved being up high and waving to all the people below!!! I was so thrilled that I did my 'happy dance' for everyone to see.  We had a beautiful picnic lunch over looking the view of Rotorua.  I enjoyed looking and waving to everyone that was going past me on the luge. I had such a great time with all my friends.

In Computers I am learning about Flying Vehicles

Today in computers I used the mouse to place over different flight vehicles to learn more about them. I loved it!

Crysalis at the Community Garden

Today at the Community garden we were picking Silverbeet and we spotted a Crysalis! Very carefully we brought it back to work and put it on our plant. I took photos of my Crysalis which are in this pic collage. Il let you know when it hatches!!

IPads at work

I have been learning how to use the IPad in different ways and can now help post my own blogs and do lots of other things :-)
